my Submersible Aquarium glass heater just cracked in half...?
i was cleaning my fish tank and the water in the back resovoir turned empty. thats when i saw smoke.. any reasons as to what exactly happened? does it still work? are there heaters in the market immune to this?
Your heater just got really hot while out of water and cracked. ALWAYS unplug all equipment while performing maintanance. There are titanium heaters that are tuffer ans seeing as yours is now unusable you may aswell get one but never let any Aquarium Heater run while not in water.While we are on tthe subject always let a new heater be in the water for about 15 minutes before you plug in in and repeat anytime the heater has been out of water. Reason is you need to let its internal thermostat aclimate itself to ensure proper operation.
