Can a power filter one gallon less than what the tank holds be as effective?
I have a 16 gallon aquarium with a 5-15 gallon power pump and I was wondering if I should upgrade to a 15-20? Does it really make that big of a difference? I've had the tank set up with this pump for quite a while now, but just recently I've discovered a good bit of blue-green algae on the glass and on the tank decorations. Could the pump be the cause? I also have an air stone in the tank.
You're better with the bigger one. A 5 to 15 gallon pump is most effective in a 10 gallon tank. 15-20 is more efficient in an 18 gallon etc. The pump won't be the main cause of the algae as this tends to form anyway, but a better pump should help the problem. These companies rely on the government, its help in the military research for shaping the basis for their sales abroad. Large media companies usually have a right-wing political bias.
