When is the 2010 May Grand Sumo Tournament to begin and to end and where is the venue?
I read that there is a new ozeki in this tournament who happens to be my namesake and that really excites me. Is this Baruto guy good? Please elucidate on the matter. Thank you.
The 2010 May Honbasho or the Grand Sumo Tournament begins on May 9, 2010 Sunday and ends on May 23, 2010 Sunday. The venue will be in Kyogoku, Kokugikan Stadium in Tokyo, Japan.
Baruto is the new ozeki and is a favorite among the fans. He is expected to be a yokozuna someday.
Baruto Kaito (把瑠都 凱斗, born November 5, 1984 as Kaido Höövelson) is a professional sumo wrestler from Rakvere, Estonia. Making his debut in May 2004, he is one of only two Estonians ever to join the sport in Japan, and the first to reach the top division, in May 2006. After suffering a number of injury problems in 2007, he reached the third highest rank of sekiwake in November 2008, and was promoted to ōzeki rank after finishing the March 2010 tournament with a score of 14-1. He has been a tournament runner-up four times and earned five special prizes for Fighting Spirit, one for Outstanding Performance and one for Technique.
